Jia said that he and his co-workers fear that they may experience a relapse as they have been suffering from symptoms similar to the ones they experienced before they were hospitalized two years ago. The symptoms include numbness, cramps, and perspiration in the hands and feet.
More than 100 workers at Wintek were sickened three years ago after exposure to N-Hexane, an alcohol substitute used to wipe the screen of electronic devices like the iPad. It is highly toxic as it can cause muscle wasting and atrophy.
The workers were sent to a hospital in 2009 and were released several months later.
Wintek told the media earlier that they would cover the cost of treatment, which was 20,000 to 30,000 yuan ($3,045-4,568) per month per patient provided the workers were properly diagnosed.
However, the company backed down from that promise, another affected worker named Guo Ruiqiang told the Global Times.
