Dong Qinfeng, owner of an independent website that hosts forums for website operators about Internet technology, told the Global Times Thursday that he is not planning to change the domain name of his website to ".中国" in the near future due to technological difficulties and strict domain name regulations.

"The character input method and browser functions need to be improved to promote the new Chinese domain name," said Dong.

"Also, a long approval process for the new domain name application may slow down the development of the new Chinese domain," Dong added.
