2 die from apples

Two students died and three others were hospitalized on Wednesday after they accidentally ate apple slices contaminated with rat poison.

The poison was used to kill rats that infested the area, according to police in Luoyang, Henan Province.

"We have confirmed the case as food poisoning," an officer at the local Public Security Bureau told the Global Times Thursday.
