Van lands in river

Six people were killed and one person injured Wednesday after a van fell from a highwaybridge in Dehui, Northeast China's Jilin Province, local police said.

The van was overtaking another vehicle when it lost control, broke through the bridge railing and fell into the river at 3:10 pm, said an eyewitness. Initial investigations showed that slippery road covered by ice and snow may have triggered the accident, police said.

The people who died worked for a company in Dehui.
