Preparations underway for the 60th anniversary celebrations

Beijing Municipality held a pep rally Thursday for the upcoming 60th Anniversary of the Founding of China at the Beijing International Convention Center. 1,700 delegates attended, who will be part of the parade, evening party, public security, sanitation and volunteers.

Liu Qi, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, made a speech and encouraged all the participants to devote themselves to the preparation work. 

Some 187,000 people will participate in the parade, and 70,000 in the evening party. So far, more than 10 months have been spent to prepare for the evening party. A 9,000-square meter video display, 4,200 illuminated trees, and 4,028 performers will be presented at the event.

The Beijing municipal traffic department has taken the experience accumulated from the Beijing Olympics security and worked out a plan.  

In addition, public transit is preparing for the event. There will be 3,880 buses, 108 subway trains, and tens of thousands of drivers and attendants for the National Day Holiday. The construction work on subway Line 4, and the western sixth ring road has been completed and will be put into service before National Day.
