The tourism industry in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is picking up again after the July 5 riots.
The first group to tour Xinjiang consisted of six from England and New Zealand. They started their month-long tour driving from Horgos Port in their Volkswagen microbus and land Rover SUV.
They plan to visit Yining, Lake Sayram, Shihezi as well as the historic Turpan city and Hami, the so called “eastern gate of Xinjiang”.
Afterwards, the group will also travel to Gansu, Qinghai, and Yunnan provinces, and wrap up their journey at Mohan port on September 4.
There are also another two European tour groups coming to Xinjiang at Horgos port. They are from Germany, Austria, and Poland.
