Great mother love beyond ethnic groups

Photo taken in May 2008 shows part of the family members of Hanipa, one of the first group of ten topmost outstanding mothers in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Hanipa gave birth to 9 children and adopted 10 orphans from the ethnic groups of Han, Hui, Uygur and Kazak. In addition to the ethnic groups of Tatar and Uzbek of her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, the family of Hanipa consists of more than 180 members from 6 ethnic groups. The moving story of Hanipa has been known among more than 20 million citizens in Xinjiang.(Xinhua/Xu Junfeng)
