Supervisor jailed for embezzling $1.5 m
A supervisor with the China Astronautic Industrial Supply & Marketing Corp was recently sentenced to life imprisonment for embezzlement at the Beijing First Intermediate People's Court, the Beijing News reported yesterday.
Between 2000 and 2003, Wang Daqing, assistant to the general manager of the corporation, transferred almost 10 million yuan ($1.5 million) of public funds to finance his gambling habit.
Ex-company chief stands trial for fraud
A former board chairman and 54 other people went on trial in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, Monday charged with defrauding thousands of farmers who supplied ants for the production of an aphrodisiac tonic. Prosecutors accused Wang Fengyou, former chairman of the 55 of contract fraud and other crimes, the Shenyang Intermediate People's Court heard.
The firm organized thousands of farmers to supply ants on condition they paid a contract bond.
Aviation museum to be extended this year
The China Aviation Museum, on the outskirts of Beijing, is to be extended to make room for a series of special events to celebrate 100 years of Chinese aviation and the 60th anniversary of the formation of the PLA Air Force, the Aviation Industry Corporation of China said yesterday.
The project will make room for a military air show and aviation exhibition in November, it said.
