CIF's cooperation with Guinea unrelated to Chinese gov't

The business cooperation between China International Fund (CIF) and the Guinean government is unrelated to the Chinese government, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said Friday in Beijing.

Replying a reporter's question on the reports of CIF's business cooperation with the Guinean government, Ma said, "We have noticed that some Western media recently did much reporting on this issue."

The CIF is a Hong Kong-registered international company, said Ma, adding that its investment in Guinea is an activity of the company itself, which is unrelated to the Chinese government.

The Chinese government is not clear about the details of their cooperation, Ma said.
