A reception was held on Tuesday in Beijing to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Guinea diplomatic ties.

Addressing the event, Chen Haosu, president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), a major non-governmental organization, said Guinea was the first country of Sub-Saharan Africa to set up diplomatic ties with New China.

China-Guinea relations are of special significance to China-Africa ties, he said, adding the two countries enjoy huge potential for future cooperation.

Guinea ambassador to China Diare Mamady spoke highly of bilateral ties, expecting further aid and support from the Chinese people.

China and Guinea forged diplomatic ties on Oct. 4 of 1959.
