Urumqi Public Security Bureau has released a wanted list with photos of 15 suspects it wants to question from the July 5 riot that left 197 people dead.

Police also made public the photos and names of 40 suspects who have been detained.

Police urged the suspects to turn themselves in, saying those who do so within 10 days will be tried with leniency, while those who try and evade officers will be punished severely when caught.

Citizens who report suspects or offer clues that lead to their capture will be rewarded and their identities kept secret.
